the lessons learned with this one, so far…
– the secret to a smooth blend is just the right amount of pressure. too much, and the color is pressed in. too light, and there’s not enough medium to work with.
– different parts of this drawing call for different techniques. generous layering, blending, quick and minimal sketching, precise, free-form. different situations call for different reactions.
– i could have arrived at the background with less medium, i over-built it. i would really benefit from doing this with proper lighting.
